THE TERRITORY
AN INNATE VOCATION FOR VITICULTURE
The extraordinary sequence of parallel hill chains, stretching from east to west with steep inclines, is the result of the millennia-old geological history of this land, naturally suited for viticulture. Human labor has shaped it since ancient times, but its formation is owed to the great forces of the Earth: the uplift of seabeds and lakebeds, later reshaped by Dolomite glaciers that covered them with sediments.

BETWEEN THE MOUNTAINS AND THE SEA
We are located between the sea and the Prealps – Venice is 50 km away, while the Dolomites are about 100 km to the north. The steep hills of Valdobbiadene, fully exposed to the south, are the result of ancient glacial activity. The soils are deep, composed of rock and sand with a high clay content. The varying combinations of exposure, slope, and soil make each micro-zone unique, giving rise to the unmistakable characteristics of types such as Rive and Cartizze.
HEROIC GRAPE VARIETY
THE GLERA GRAPE
Glera is the beating heart of Valdobbiadene DOCG, a grape variety that has been rooted in these hills for over three centuries. Already mentioned in some writings from the 18th century, this variety has found its ideal habitat here, evolving in symbiosis with the land and its people.
Its current name, Glera, was officially adopted only in 2009, but its history is much older. In the past, it was known by various local names, including Prosecco, a term that was later reserved exclusively for the geographical denomination. This grape variety is distinguished by its freshness and elegance, characteristics enhanced by the uniqueness of the terroir and the choice of production method: secondary fermentation in a pressurized tank, known as the Martinotti Method.
The south-facing hills, ranging from 100 to 500 meters in altitude, create a perfect microclimate. Strong temperature variations favor the development of complex aromas, while the temperate climate, summer rains, and constant ventilation ensure optimal growing conditions. Glera thrives in well-drained soils, and the steep slopes of Valdobbiadene prevent water stagnation, making each vineyard a unique mosaic of nuances.
Adding to this natural balance is the tireless work of generations of winemakers, who have sculpted the landscape with dedication and effort, cultivating the vines entirely by hand on steep slopes. It is a daily commitment that makes this viticulture truly heroic, safeguarding a heritage that is unique in the world.
